About Our Company

OneWell Health Care and its affiliated companies are dedicated to empowering individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) and Autism to lead fulfilling, self-directed lives. We provide compassionate, person-centered care that promotes dignity, independence, and inclusion across community and home settings throughout the United States.

Position Summary

The IDD Team Lead provides operational leadership and oversight for OneWell Health Care’s California Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) services, including Supported Living Services (SLS), Respite Services, and other authorized community-based programs. The Team Lead is responsible for supervising Program Supervisors, overseeing service delivery, managing participant and employee utilization, maintaining continuity of care, addressing service and authorization barriers for existing participants, and ensuring compliance with applicable Regional Center and OneWell requirements. The position maintains operational accountability for a caseload representing a minimum of 300 billable service hours per week and is responsible for actively managing underutilization, pending service cases, staffing gaps, and barriers that prevent authorized services from being delivered.

Position Scope

The IDD Team Lead provides leadership across assigned California Regional Center programs and serves as the primary operational escalation point for Program Supervisors. The position oversees participant service delivery from activation through ongoing services. The Team Lead supports transitions from Intake into Operations but does not own referral intake or authorization progression for pending referrals, which are managed by the Intake Manager. Once a participant transitions into active services, the Team Lead is responsible for monitoring utilization, staffing, continuity of care, service quality, documentation, and operational barriers, including existing-participant POS and authorization issues. The Team Lead works closely with the IDD Manager, Intake Manager, Talent/Recruiting, Quality & Risk Management (QRM), Human Resources, Revenue Cycle Management, and other departments to support effective service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

The IDD Team Lead provides leadership, coaching, and performance oversight to Program Supervisors while ensuring assigned programs meet utilization, staffing, service delivery, documentation, and compliance expectations. Responsibilities include monitoring authorized and delivered service hours, identifying underutilization and service gaps, overseeing pending cases and participant transitions into Operations, and developing action plans to address operational barriers. The Team Lead monitors employee/Personal Attendant availability, staffing needs, participant matching, coverage, and continuity of care while partnering with Talent/Recruiting, HR, Regional Centers, and other stakeholders to resolve concerns. The role also ensures services are delivered in accordance with Individual Program Plans (IPPs), authorizations, and applicable Regional Center requirements; reviews documentation and reportable incidents; escalates safety, compliance, staffing, and service-delivery concerns; and provides regular performance reporting and corrective-action recommendations to the IDD Manager. The Team Lead may also support Regional Center meetings, audits, quality-improvement initiatives, employee development, emergency response, program expansion, and other operational projects as assigned.

The position operates in accordance with applicable requirements, including:

  • California Department of Developmental Services (DDS) requirements;
  • California Code of Regulations, including applicable Title 17 requirements;
  • Applicable Regional Center vendor and service requirements;
  • Individual Program Plans (IPPs) and service authorizations;

It's definitely rewarding work. You feel good about yourself — when you go home, you know that you're making a difference for people.

0:14

My name is Ethan Lonardelli and I've been with OneWell for four months. A typical day as an IDD team lead involves communicating with my DSPs to make sure everything is going well with the cases, and communicating with the DDS case managers to make sure we're up to date and in compliance with all of our documents.

0:35

I work collaboratively with the program specialists under me to make sure everything is under control — and if they need anything, to please reach out.

0:43

I was a case manager for an emergency respite case here at OneWell — it was actually my first case. The individual was going to the hospital almost on a daily basis, and when I took over, she didn't go to the hospital for the last two months of her care.

1:00

She would call me and tell me how proud she was of herself for de-escalating on her own and not resorting to going to the hospital.

1:07

It's about communication and commitment to the individuals, as well as the mission statement. Everyone from top to bottom is very aligned on the ins and outs of the way things are done here.

1:15

OneWell has been supportive of me and my role — they recognized the work I've done while being promoted to my current position. The leadership is supportive at every level throughout the company.

1:30

Decisions aren't made at the top that don't reflect the way things are on a day-to-day basis. The individuals are put first, and decisions reflect that.

1:47

For someone applying to be an IDD team lead, I would recommend this position because you're supported by leadership in the state and by our larger leadership team.

1:55

We're making the program specialists', team leads', and regional managers' jobs easier by streamlining how we're able to provide services faster and more effectively.
